Rec's for new receiver???

Yeah, I've heard that is an issue. Although I have an open shelf it would sit on, I can barely keep that area cool enough and having a little heater wouldn't help. Maybe its my really expensive receiver/space heater

I'm new to integrating all these new technologies so thanks for all the helpful info.

I'm back to the Yamaha V1800, V1065 and the HK 354.

I've heard great things about all and for the price ($550) HK 354 may be the best bang for the buck.

My concern is video through the receiver and I think I can pass-through the video via HDMI without it "touching" the quality very much or not enough to notice. Am I right on this?

Also, the HK 354 only has 3 HDMI inputs and I have 4 HDMI sources. I guess I can use 3HDMI and 1 component to receiver and 1 HDMI and 1 component out to TV. And, am I right on this? Any downside to this set up... besides extra cables?

It appear from page 92 of the RX-V1800 owners manual, http://www.yamaha.ca/av/PDFs/Receivers/2007_models/RXV1800_Manual.pdf that you can turn up conversion off and it pass the signal trough untouched. Maybe someone else take a read through this to see if they draw teh same conclusion as myself.

I actually d/l the manual and saw that also... which is good news. I have a local deal (this Saturday) for an excellent condition used V1800. So if it goes through ok, I will have it this weekend and can let you all know the performance.

I'm sure I would be happy with either the HK 354 or the Yamaha V1800... both look really good.
