I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV card and software to record from a Sony VHS unit (composite RCA out) to my PC. I can record OK, but the audio portion has a LOT of RF interference one can hear. Output files are MPGs.
What is the best way to remove the noise? I've considered better cables, removing non-essential boards from my PC, etc., but am really wondering if there is an easy way to eliminate the background noise. I've briefly looked at using Audacity, but gave up on that after I couldn't quickly figure out a solution. Besides, Audacity wanted to save its result as a separate audio file; this isn't a viable solution.
Any ideas? Anyone know of a VCR unit that offers digital audio output (Toslink)?
