Recommendations on TV Stand

Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted here. I hope everyone has been well.

I thought I was able to stop buying HT gear, but the bug has hit me again after a few years. I recently replaced my old Denon AVR for an Onkyo 875, and I'm loving DTS-MA - no popping sounds anymore! (I'm not sure if anyone remembers that).

Anyways, I'm now looking for a new TV Stand. The problem is that my gear seems to weigh quite a bit and I'm having trouble finding something that will be suitable.

The Onky 875 weighs about 52lbs, and my Anthem MCA30 is about 42lbs. This isn't including my PS3, XBox360, PVR, and DVD Player (I'm probably not going to put the LD Player + Karaoke Mixer in there.. time for that to go.. thankfully).

So far, the best thing I could find is Sanus SFV49.

http://www.sanus.com/ca/en/products/av-foundations/av-steel/SFV49

It's rated for 70lbs for the bottom and middle shelves, and the top shelf is rated at 100lbs.

I will be wall mounting the TV, and just putting my center channel on the top shelf.

I'm just worried about the 70lbs capacity for the other shelves, as I was hoping to put both the 875 and MCA20 on the bottom, as they're not handled as much as the PS3, 360 or DVD player.

Any ideas on where to find shelves with higher load capacities? (I live in Vancouver, Canada).

thanks!

I just purchased a Salamander Triple with a plasma attachment. You can get them in all sorts of tiers and build on them more later if need be. Had to sell the idea to the wife, but once we got it put together, she loves it. You can get them on ebay (cheapest) or search the web for stores. They can hold anything you throw at it. Good luck.

If you haven't, I strongly recommend you take an hour or two looking at www.racksandstands.com which has over 1,000 different racks on their website. It's pretty seriously hard to get through all the versions which are out there, but it does list a lot more, and a lot more at reasonable prices compared to the standard product sites such as Sanus, Salamnder, BDI, and others.

I'm in the same boat and not only is weight an issue but with some of the cabinet type stands so is depth. The 3rd factor is breathing room above the receiver. Finally there is matching the rest of my furniture which is honey oak. I've come down to either having something made locally or buying this Whalen stand and having a local cabinet maker replace the wood with oak. The bottom shelf is wood and I'm guessing should easily support 75-100lbs (in my case I'd be replacing it with furniture grade oak plywood that should easily support 120lbs). Best Buy gets $375 for the stand and I'm probably looking at $200 for my cabinet maker friend to make the modifications. That's opposed to about $1k to have the cabinet I'd like to have made.

The TV mount is removable.

Dang it looks like that Racks And Stands place has a heck of a selection.
