I've been looking, but haven't been finding any real answers.

I'm looking for a pair of headphones for casual mixing and listening to music/dvds. I am willing to spend $150 (maybe a little more if it's worth it). I've looked at the HD-280's, but my head is kinda big so I don't think they'd work out. I was looking at the 555's, but heard the 595's were better. If I were to buy right now, those would be them. But I know it's not the best choice, which I why I'm here. Isolation would be a plus, but no biggie if it's not there. Also I can't do in ear buds, my ears seem to be oddly shaped as no IEM i've used will get a "snug" fit. TIA!

I have a pair of Sony MDR-V3's from about circa 1990... and even though they are a little beat up... they still sound excellent.

I don't think they make them anymore, but I could be very wrong.

Check out the Sony MDR-7506. Supposedly VERY accurate, and cheap too.

Not worth it, since the V6's are exactly the same, but with a silver plug and a red sticker, not to mention half the price.

I would go for these:

I can't say I have head them, but Wmax (think that's his name) highly reccomends them to me, so I'm sure you would like them as well.

I own the V6's btw.

I think you're on track with the 555's. The 595's are slightly better for music, but they sound very similar to the 555's and the consensus seems to be that the 555's are better for movies/gaming, making it the most best overall choice in my opinion.

I am very happy with a pair of Senns HD580s. They do need a receiver to power them, since they are not very efficent.

Welcome GermanMafia,
(Never thought I'd say that:eek: )

I have HD-280PRO's and think they are comfortable. My head measures 23.5" around the crown. Not huge but not small...
