My 5.1.2 system: Yamaha RX-A1060 receiver (110 wpc); Emotiva 150 w x 2 amp; Klipsch R-28F fronts; Klipsch RC 42II center; awesome homemade bookshelf speakers in Minimus 77 cabs with 5" metal cone woofers and MK tweeters for rear surrounds; wonderful suped-up Minimus 7 bookshelf speakers with 4" woofers and also MK tweeters for front presence and a floor-firing BIC 12" powered subwoofer.
Room size is 10' wide by 27' deep. Rear surrounds are 17' back from the front edge of front speakers.
It sounds pretty much great. Can I improve the system with a 2nd sub? If so, what would be a good one for around 4 to $500?

Oh also, if a 2nd sub is recommended, should it be ported or sealed? My BIC is ported.

A ported sub is more efficient, it will go down with a response flat to a lower frequency with the appropriate driver and with less distortion than with a closed box.

I'd try to get another ported bic, or find one with similar capabilities. The weaker sub will dictate performance.

Thx Pogre! I just ordered another identical one! This'll be awesome!
