Hey guys,
I recently purchased the pioneer SP-PK52FS system (minus the sub) to replace my old surround sound speaker set. So far I like them a lot, but I've come to the conclusion that my 5.1 yamaha htr-5550 isn't doing them justice. After the initial install, I noticed they were lacking the "wow" factor that I have been reading so much about. Since I figured my yamaha was probably at fault, I decided to hook just the towers up to my more powerful 2ch kenwood receiver. With higher power, the pioneers came to life. Even though I love my yamaha, I need to get a receiver that has enough power for the pioneers. With all that said, I am looking for a no-nonsense style of amp that is big on power and sound but not so much on added special features. In a perfect world I'd love to drop a grand on a receiver, but realistically I need to stick to a budget of less than $400. Any suggestions?? And if it matters, I will use it for 50/50 home theater and music. Thanks to all who can help!
