Hey guys,
Im in the process of setting up a hometheater system with a AX-100 panasonic projector, and would like to connect it with a long HDMI cable. Also, I'd like to have enough HDMI inputs for the PS3 and a DirecTV HD reciever. I found a Dennon (Don't remember the model number, and i can't get it because I am typing this from my treo...) but it was a tad to expensive and was looking for a less expensive, but durable product.

Thanks guys,

No mention of cost equals no recommendations... HDMI support is limited..

I was looking to get the same setup and I was looking at the Denon 2307ci. MSRP $799. Street price $600 to $650 from non authorized Reseller.

Lets be fair, and give him a really good recommendation... .

I would recommend getting 4-5 Mcintosh MC2102 amplification units... Then find a Pre-Amp... hmmm lets see Halcro SSP100 should meet your needs.

You need 4 or 5 because of the number of outputs you got in the Halcro, and you sure do want to use all of them... That should make you very happy... though it may be a bit more money then that Denon, it is worth every penny.

-----------------------

Ok... so Im beign a bit harsh, and a bit funny. Im personally looking into a good HDMI compatable receiver for under $1k. They will be powering a set of B&W 603's with either a LCR600 or LCR60 (depending on what I can get them for).

I only want a single HDMI source (or maybe a pair if needed). But the AV Receiver has to have 5.1 coaxil inputs. I am going to be hooking up my computer to this system, which will blow the doors off of any CD/DVD player out there that is under 1-2K. I will also be building a Media Center for another room, that will have the ability to record multiple shows at once, and then share them with my main computer thats on the LCD. Therefor I am not interested in more then a few components. What I need is POWER! Clean, Clear, Power with amazing sound.

Any ideas where to start?

How long of an HDMI cable are you thinking of running?
What speakers, its impedance and sensitivity? That would dictate a receiver, not to mention the sufficient HDMI inputs or an external switcher box.

WAIT!

As we approach the beginning of the year, more and more NEW products will become available.

There are some great Denon and Yamaha receiver options in that price range including the Yamaha RX-V2700. With your projection system you could take advantage of its upscalling features.

I was using a Pioneer Elite with my NHTs, it sounded very good. I am now using a Denon, and it still sounds very good.:D

I have to wonder about how well a receiver will de-interlace 1080i images to produce 1080p images (assuming your projector displays 1080). While I can't give you any recommendations for a receiver, I was recently in your position, where I was looking for something that did HD video over HDMI.

After reading this article however I have to wonder, how good can the deinterlacing in a receiver be, considering the fact that this is a piece of equipment dedicated to sound processing. If you must go with a receiver, that does HDMI then get one that only does input switching without any de-interlacing.

My suggestion is u go for a damn good receiver and forget the HDMI switching. So long as your projector can accept 1080p FROM THE INPUT, then you'll be fine. You can hook it to a PC, HD-DVD player, BD-Player or whatever else player for the next format they come up with in the next 3 days :)
But at least you'll be getting the best quality video AND the best quality sound with dedicated hardware...
