I am currently in the market for a new reciever. I am currently "trying" a Yamaha Rx-V2400. In the 12 months, I had 3 Rotel RSX-1065 Recievers and had problems with each. I finally got to the point of frusteration where I went back and was just using an older Yamaha amp. Now I'm at the point where I want to jump back in to the reciever market and I'm not 100% convinced the RX-V2400 is for me. Main concern is power and sound - not bells and whistles. One of the things I did like about the Rotel product was the pure "oomph" and sound it produced. I loved the product - it just had serious reliability issues. I have a complete set of Definitive Technology speakers (2x BP2002, 1xCLR2002 & 4XBP2x). Their efficiency rating is 92DB. I have a dedicated room that is about 12X16 that is insulated, etc. Budget is about $1500-$2000 for the amp but if I needed to spend a little more for the perfect product - I would. If I could save a bit and put that money elsewhere - I would as well. Thank you for your assistance, it is appreciated!

I have the RX-V1300 and ProMonitor 200s x 3 and they are very punchy and lots of dimension, I don't think you'll make a mistake with the 2400, but if you need more power sacrifice some bells and whistles and get a 3300

The 3300 would fit the bill nicely if you want a "no frills" unit that has plenty of power. However, I would suggest that you maybe try the 2400 out first before settling on the 3300. I just recently got the 2400 and have nothing but good impressions about it. Your speakers are very efficent so you should at least give the 2400 chance. It has many more bells and whistles over the 3300. So if its power satisfies your tastes, then I'd say stick with it. In my room that is roughly the same size as yours, the power and sound is top notch and more than what I need. I am also driving less efficient speakers than you are, around 89-90. If you can swing up to $2000, I would definitely be watching CES 2004 to see if a RXV-3400 comes out.
