Need help choosing a reciever...
Hello All
I am new to the forums and trying to find my way around. I have been browsing for a few days and decided to register and post for opinions.
I have purchased a set of Infinity Beta 50 Floorstanding Speakers, Infinity Beta C360 Center Speaker, Infinity PS 12 Subwoofer and Infinity Beta 20's for the rears. My decision for these speakers were made by listening to them against other brands such as Polk Audio. The decision was based on best sound quality and clarity that suited my budget.
I am now looking for a reciever that will cost me anything between 600 and 1050 dollars. I am interested in the Harman Kardon AVR 635. Vanns.com seems to be having a really good special on them . Apparently they will not be released until Dec 30th. I have also looked into the Onkyo TX-NR 901 and into some of the Denon Recievers. All seem to be pretty decent. Listening to the HK AVR 630 I was impressed with the clarity of sound that it brought out in the speakers as opposed to the other recievers, but some of the other recievers have some other neat features that the AVR 635 does not. Such as THX Certifications ECT. Some seem to think that the THX Select, THX Ultra and TXH Ultra2 certifications are a gimmic and give the company a reason to boost the price, others seem to think that it is THX certified due to the way that sound is processed in a 5.1,6.1 or 7.1 surround sound environment.
So with this I have about a month to decide on a good reciever to meet my needs for the money spent. I would like something that can really drive the speakers well and provides sound clarity. I have between $600 and $1000 to spend and I am looking for options to investigate and research so that I can make the best decision. Your advice and opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
