Reciever for new speakers

I'm looking for recommendations for a new receiver to push a new set of Polk speakers that will soon be arriving. The speakers themselves are a pair of rti a7's for fronts, a csi a6 for the center, a pair of fxi a4's for the surrounds. The sub is a Velodyne dps10.

The main requirement for the receiver is that it is under 7" tall, but width and depth are not a concern. Budget wise I would prefer to stay under $1,500, but is there is something phenomenally better for a little more I would consider.

Thanks.

Those speakers are all 8 ohms and of reasonable efficiency. You don't need special amplification to drive them fairly loud. You should select a receiver that has the features you want. I like Yamaha for their quality and value; some others will likely suggest other good brands (like Denon).

And you should easily be able to stay within budget. You will not get phenomenally better sound for more money on the receiver. If you simply bought the best current model Yamaha that you can get within your budget, you should be very happy, unless you have some special requirements for your new receiver that you have not mentioned.

No, I really don't have any special requirements except as many hdmi inputs as possible. I do currently have an Onkyo 605, but I wasn't sure if it had enough wattage to effectively push the speakers.
Thanks.

From a long time Yammi user. One great thing about the Yamies are they are robust. We don't hear much of it sounding bright anymore.

I auditioned the Denon 3806 few months ago and it was good too couldn't tell the difference between the two though, but never owned.

Good luck.

Your 605 should drive those speakers effectively. If you want the latest and greatest, the Onkyo 606, Yammie 663, and Pioneer 1018 are all good options.

From another long time Yamaha user.

I started with ( and am still using ) the HTR 5650 in my basement set up, have a RX-V1400 for my main room set up, and am looking to upgrade the RX-V1400 to... you guessed it, another Yamaha.:D

Although I haven't bought anything else, I have auditioned HK, Onkyo, and Denon, and though there was nothing wrong with any of them, and I'm sure any would do what you want it to, I just felt that the Yamaha was the best bang for the buck.

Have a great day and good luck.

Just keep your current receiver until you need to upgrade. They are always coming out with new features that you will want, and if you delay upgrading your receiver as long as reasonably possible, you will get more for your money. I personally prefer Yamaha to Onkyo for receivers these days, and I still recommend you just hang onto your Onkyo until you need something more.
