Alright, I'm putting together a surround sound system for my parents, they've got a Panasonic 50" plasma 1080p, Dish Network HD DVR, and getting either a Sony BDP-S350 or Panasonic BD35K. My Dad has two pairs of decent speakers that he wants to use so I'm looking for a reciever, sub, and center channel, possibly another pair of speakers for a 7.1 system but don't know about that yet. Any suggestions for a system that will sound decent but isn't too pricey. They mostly will use it for TV and some movies.

I think we are going to need a bit more information. There are dozens and dozens of options for you, far too many to just flat out recommend. What features are you looking for? What is your budget for each of those pieces? Without that info, we have nowhere to start.

Sorry, for the lack of info, basically I need this for them:
-center channel
-subwoofer
-receiver, only needs to be 5.1 capable
-tons of features aren't needed as they probably won't touch setting after I set it up
-price for all three components around $500

I've looked at Onkyo's 506 and Yamaha 463
Considering Dayton sub
no idea on center channel

Anything seriously wrong with these ideas?
Biggest concern is ease of use so I'll probably set it up with a Harmony remote cause I doubt they will ever change any setting after I set it up. Any other things you need to know?

What are his current speakers, to perhaps help with the center choice?

If you are looking for affordable and decent sound look to Onkyo for more bang for buck.

My brother just bought an Onkyo 606 from Amazon for $339 if that is of interest to you.
