Will someone please recommend the best A/V receiver in the $2500-$3000 range. I will be using reference series klipsh, 7 channels and using it for video primarily. Other equipment used is jvc HD1 wit 110 inch stewart. Currently undecided on new dvd format. thanks to anyone who helps me out of the endless sea of choices:)

I would guess that the promised HDMI 1.3 Denons will be hitting the street since they were promised for Spring, the typical delays would push them back closer to September (CEDIA).

For the amount of money being spent, I would seriously consider going to separate amplifiers/receiver setup though. Drop $1K or so on the receiver and another could grand or so on amplification.

Ehem, I think that he was refering to the Emotiva seperates that are to included HDMI 1.3 that are coming out near the end of this year, if he wasn't suggesting that, it is still a very good idea. The Klipsch sound their best with some oomph behind them, like a real power amplifier.:)

If you cannot wait 3-4 months for that I would suggest getting a budget AVR with preouts (Yamaha RX-V659) and a Emotiva MPS-1 power amplifier. Then when the new preamp comes out you can either sell the RX-V659 or use it in another room for a smaller system. (if you have an AVR already, see if it has preouts) The MPS-1 is going to be more linear than most any receiver, capable of handling low impedance swings that the Reference series Klipsch induce on amplifiers.

For the uninformed, new model receivers/pre-pros will be released over the next several months that offer the much awaited HDMI 1.3 capability and HD audio processing.

Emotiva, Denon, Sherwood-Newcastle, Marantz, and I believe Pioneer have all been rumored to release their HDMI 1.3 TrueHD/MA products by mid-summer.

Don't forget about the new Onkyo coming out in August, with HDMI 1.3, Dolby THD / DTS MA codecs, Silicon Optix scaling chip, Burr Brown DACs and HD Radio - MSRP: $2000.

The Onkyo 's are having a spread release starting in a few WEEKS with their low range through to the TX-NR905 expected in late august(drool) Note the HQV Reon-VX processors, the same used in the latest Blu-ray and HD DVD players. Nice!!

Check the spec's and see if it's not worth waiting a month or two.

I wouldn't expect to see a new Emotiva pre-pro until early next year, but if you have one of their pre-pros, you will get a 40% discount on the new model.

There is no best A/V receiver. unfortunately...LOL

However, there are several good choices in your price range. For my theater applications, I'm partial to Yamaha driving my Klipsch reference speakers. The RXV-2700 can be had for between $1,000-$1,500, and you'll have money remaining in your budget for acoustic room treatments. The 2700 will drive your RF/c7's without any problems....... Just be sure not to neglect the room, because the room plays a critical role in how good your theater will sound.

As for the waiting for new technology??? I've never subscribed to that purchasing theory because there is always a newest best thing waiting just over the horizon.
