Receiver, zone 2, 3, amp question

My current setup has an Onkyo Reciever (can not remember which one am at work!) But I will tell you it is a 7.1 channel with a POWERED zone 2. So in my HT room I have a 7.2 set up and in the bedroom through a volume control 2 in ceiling speakers. Works fine.

In the VERY near future I will be purchasing either the tx-nr5007 or 3007. Do not know which one. In the HT room I already have the height speakers so 9.2 channels in the HT room. This leaves the bedroom and my expansion with 2 more speakers for outside. Both the 5007 and the 3007 have zone 2 and 3 non powered. So it looks like I need an amp or another reliever to run the four speakers, 2 in bedroom 2 outside. Which do you recommend? I do want the versatility of my 5007 or 3007 to pick zone 2 or 3 or both. I want to make sure music from my 5007/3007 receiver is what is played (has Ipod dock). Inj othjer words I want the 5007/3007 to have control over what is played through the speakers.
So, is it better to have a 4 channel amp, two 2 channel amps or another receiver as an amp? I only will be running 100W to the speakers outside. The bedroom speakers are also only 100W. So nothing outrageous! I only was able to get the outside speakers because they look like rocks!
Also any brand or source I should go with. Let me know! Thanks.

You should look on ebay or audiogon for a couple of used Link audiosource amps or Onkyo M-282's. I have a couple of the Onkyo ones now and I've owned the audiosource ones in the past and both work great for zone applications.

When using sources for zone 2/zone 3 the usually require analog connections and will not use HDMI or toslink. I would check the manual and make sure it specifically states it will use the iPod dock in these zones. The zone 2 will pass analog video sources but zone 3 will not.
