Is such a receiver available???

I got this idea from my NEC projector, it has a PICMA card spot in it so I hooked up a wireless network card and now it connects to my router. With NECs software I can control it from any computer in the house not to mention send images to it.

I think with all the MP3/Internet Radio to receiver technology growing this would be a unique option. I would be neat to have the ability to send music from any computer on the network and use most of the controls on the unit. Having it wireless would make it even easier. This would really prove its use with multi-room receivers.

I have been looking at the Onkyo NR1000 but I wasn't sure what features I would be able to access over ethernet. I tried to look at Onkyos site but it just says: net-tune, ethernet, ect. It doen't go into detail about what I could do with the ethernet. Have you guys been able to use the features and could maybe give me some info? Thanks for the ideas so far.

Onkyo's NetTune allows you to play internet radio stations and mp3 from your home network. The downside is that the internet radio stations are only the ones accessible to Onkyo's own server - you cannot tune any old station you like and the selection is very limited.

To play mp3 requires that you install their software on your computer. It is pretty primitive. You can download the NetTune software to get an idea of what it can do.

I thought it would be a good idea but the implementation is just not good. I think its better to use another device, like an AudioTron or Squeezebox, connected to your network and then connect that to your receiver the same way you would connect any other source device. It may get better over time, but I opted to go with the 702 and forget the NetTune capability.
