Hey guys, I am selling my Onkyo TX-SR303 for almost double what I paid for it... Anyways, I have about 200 bucks MAX for a new receiver. No higher please, this is just plain profit I made to get a free upgrade on my receiver. 200 max!

Anyways, my current set of speakers are Polk R30's which are soon to be moved to the back because I am "gonna" get some Paradigm atoms or Athena's B1.2's.

My current receiver doesn't have enough optical and coax inputs for me, I need one more, so about 1 opt and 2 coax will be fine. I like a nice bright, but not toooooo bright sound. And it must be at least 5.1.

I'll third that. :) I owned an AVR-685 (identical to the 1705) for a short time and for a small to medium sized room, it's a good receiver with decent options at that price point... -TD

I can get it for about 150 shipped.. and I like the looks A LOT better than the denon's....

Anyways, where's that chart that compared a huge variety of receivers and how thier ratings stands against thier true watts...

nvm, this pioneer is not a real upgrade from my onkyo at all... hmmm that denon is starting to look much better now... with a higher res. picture that is!

You mean the one I just reviewed (I'm going to assume you read it). I thought it was a great receiver for the price. Just make sure it has all the connections you need.

hmm, well I read the Cnet review... They compared the Onkyo sr503 to the pioneers 515k... and they said the onkyo sounded fuller and better at higher volumes.. my 303 is similar to the 503 except for a few missing features and spring clips and 5.1 with 65 watts instead of 7.1 and 75... I am assuming they sound similar. Soo.. I might get the Denon :) thanks guys.

If you like Onkyo . . .

Look for a refurbished Onkyo 603 from sites like ecost.com in your $200 price range. It would be a big power and feature upgrade from your old one.
