Receiver upgrade question

Ive got a simple question. Would it be better to buy an older, more top of the line for its day 1990's receiver or a more lower end modern one, like the yamaha's? There is a pawn shop I know of that sells very good receivers for ~$125, but they are older. I saw one that said 96khz sample rate and had gold connections. But it was RCA?!? Or Ill see older Sony's and Pioneer Elite. My speakers are 6ohm, rated 300 wpc. Im running 100 wpc right now and Im looking for a bit more power and clarity. Any suggestions?

If all you need is more power add an amp if you have pre-outs.

100 wpc is plenty for 99.9% of home audio installations. Changing receivers doesn't have anything to do with "clarity" so you should buy whatever you like.
