Receiver to amp connection

i have a vector research vr-2300 receiver with outputs for phono cd and radio and suspected that one of the channels had an issue because sound was diminished on one speaker. So I recently found a Yamaha AX-430 amp with options for tuner cd phono and aux that I have now connected to cd changer and turntable. It's made a world of difference! Long story short the new amp does not have tuner/receiver and I want to be able to get radio through the new amp. The Anyone know if this is possible? Any chance I can connect the two anyway? Wasn't sure if I could use one of the outputs from the vector and plug into the new amp Thanks for your help

A “receiver” like your Vector Research actually has three components in a single chassis: An AM/FM tuner (for radio signals), a pre-amp and a stereo amplifier. Your new Yamaha is an “integrated amp,” which only has the pre-amp and amplifier in the chassis, and not the tuner. (Note that the Yamaha has an input for a separate tuner, while the Vector Research did not.)

Thus if you want radio you’ll have to buy a tuner. Search ebay for “Yamaha tuner” (or whatever brand suits your fancy) and you’ll find no shortage of vintage offerings. If you can find one, the Yamaha TX-950 from the early 90s was Yamaha’s last high-end tuner – a truly excellent yet under-appreciated example of the type.

If you just want to use the Vector as a tuner, simple connect its "Tape Out" jacks to the Yamaha's "Tuner" input.

Wow..
A Vector VR-2300..:)
Going back 30 years and still working, that receiver was actually built by Pioneer-Korea. I recall they sold something like 350K units, Vector wanted to continue to build it but the AM/FM tuner being analog the variable tuning capacitor was no long available as things went digital-PLL tuner.

Just my $0.02... ;)

Thank you! Worked like a charm. I just wasn't sure if that was an option and didn't want to blow anything up lol. Thanks again for the advice. It's nice to be able to get some more life from this unit. I've had it since the late 80's
