Receiver setting question

My JVC receiver has both bass and treble settings which I have always left at 0db. I have my crossover set at 80. Should I change the bass and treble setting or leave them at 0db. Will these settings have any affect on DVD movies which is what I mostly use my system for? I have played with the settings some but only notice a difference when listening to music in stereo mode.

Thank you!

The bass and treble "tone" adjustments will boost or cut the frequencies around 100-200Hz and 1-2kHz, or something like that. I don't know the exact frequency ranges, but it's not your subwoofer. It's because people are impressed by "bass" around 150Hz and think treble is in the lower kHz range, based on what they can hear being changed.

I'd leave them alone unless you have a personal preference that emphasizes things in those frequencies.

The bass and treble works only when listening to stereo mode !! . When you listening to 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 the bass and treble are automatic set to zero, and controling by the receiver EQ. So for the best results I suggest you to leave them at 0db.
