Well, I've managed to severely confuse myself with my receiver selection. Recently I decided that HDMI input is not that important to me, and that one little thing has now opened up a lot more possibilities for a receiver than I had originally: so many that I am now asking for help.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to 4 receivers (though open to suggestions):

1. Yamaha HTR-5890
2. HK AVR-635
3. HK AVR-435
4. Onkyo TX-SR703B

I'll be running the following 5.1 setup: Onix X-SLS (fronts and rears), Onix X-CS (center), Athena AS-P4000 (sub). Obviously the speakers haven't come out yet, but my total purchase is still a ways away.

My listening/viewing habits are around 60% movies/TV, 20% music, 20% gaming.

Again, HDMI input/switching is not too important to me right now; my main concern is getting a well made, reliable receiver that delivers high quality sound. Also, I should be able to get all of them well below $500 (except for the 635)

I originally had the Pioneer 1015, but its lack of audio delay turned me off of it. I can really see issue in the sync of audio, so this is a deal-breaker for me.

My biggest question is in regards to the HKs: is the only difference between the two the 10 watts extra of the 635? If so, would that matter for my setup? I usually don't listen too loud as I have neighbors in the apartments next to me.

Any reccommendations regarding these 4 receivers would be greatly appreciated.

Rethought the HTR-5890. Figure the RXV-659 is just as good, costs less. Only thing the HTR has going for it (that I see) is more power and the THX Select2 certification.
