Receiver price trends

It seems all sellers charge the same price for any given receiver. And if one goes "on sale" anywhere it does the same everywhere (recently a Denon unit is $100 off all over the place). That is the way the market works, I guess.
So. What might I expect receiver prices to do after Christmas? Do prices stay same, go down, what? I can wait a bit until I get my next unit--can I reasonably expect to see lower prices in January than in the last half of December? And when the new 2017 models come out will the 2016 versions drop in price in any customary pattern? When might that be?
Interesting subject.

Yeah, new models means the old models get cheaper.

Denon last year's models tend to go on sale in summer/early fall as new year models come out. So that is generally the best time of year to watch for Denon deals.

Accessories4less is a online store that's a refurbished authorized certified dealer that carries Denon has well. A lot of us here have purchased repeatedly over the years with great success with there gear and they provide outstanding tech support along with customer service which is a comfort, take a look.

If you watch AC4L they will also pick up new last year's model inventory from other shops and sell them new on their site when the new models come out. Just like the sales on the old ones, that doesn't last long and the prices are good.

Google has a nice feature when you search for a model number, a listing of several marketplace sellers and prices appears on the right side of the screen. Personally when I am shopping / trending, I keep a running favorites list of the sellers product webpage and check periodically. Not the best, but it works.
