i have a small set up in the basement. Yamaha rxv375 w 5.1 def techs. Xbox /Wii cable box. I went to turn off the receiver and saw a spark and a popping sound possible from receiver? This is the second Time it happened. Last time it happened I think it happened as i was watching. Speakers all still work and no issues. I'm trying to trouble shoot n find out why this happened. None of the speaker wires are touching each other. Any ideas? Receiver still working too ???

Sounds like a static electricity discharge..
When U touched the Yamaha to turn it OFF a slight charge from your body was grounded out. This can happen in a high humidity setup and/or walking across a carpet.. Note that such a charge can be up to 2-3KV but with little or no current, it can make U jump but not harmful.
It shouldn't be a problem..

Just my $0.02.. ;)

Makes sense but I think I used the remote to turn it off. I was on a rug and was working on the receiver earlier as I hooked up new speakers today

I'm using one of those really old power strips so could have also been that.
