Receiver options please

Hi.
I would like to buy good receiver for my house. I have Polk audio speakers in the wall. 4 Polk Audio RC80i 2-way Premium In-Ceiling 8" Round Speakers. And 1 Polk Audio 255c-RT In-Wall Center Channel Speaker (2) 5.25" Drivers. 3 up front and 2 in the back.
Also I need subwoofer. That will make my system 5.1 right? I'm not very smart in this stuff. I have a ranch house with living room that is also a kitchen. Open space.
Thank you

Clarify if you are staying at 5.1 or adding more speakers. What about those 4 ceiling speakers? The Yamaha will get you 7, the Denon 9 channels.

I think you may want to consider a 9.2 channel receiver if you plan on adding more speakers later so you have more options.

Do you also want an in-wall solution for the sub? Or is free-standing good enough? Budget for receiver? Budget for sub?

ps yes, the speakers you describe can be used as 5.1 (altho most of us wouldn't put them in the ceilings except for Atmos), and if you had an avr capable of more channels you might turn the ceiling speakers to Atmos use some day and add speakers in the bed layer, i.e. lower/nearer ear height (altho that may not fit in with the aesthetic you're looking for).

What is atmos?
And give me an idea for the bed layer
I am willing to change my layout
Sub I have a spot on the floor, free standing.
I could spend up to 1k on receiver and 500 on sub.
