Receiver on for long periods ok?

I'm going to be using a DVD/slideshow to break in my new Panny plasma and my DVD player's power is plugged into my receiver's outlets, meaning the receiver has to be on to use the DVD player. Will it hurt to leave the receiver on for many hours on end if its idle? The alternative of course is tearing apart my entertainment center to switch out the DVD player's power cord. Thoughts?

First, I don't think that will hurt the receiver.

I have another option for you, though. Do you have an SD memory card? If so, you can load the images on there (can download them from the same page as the DVD files, and they are 8KB in size) and play them as a slideshow on the TV (just have them be the only images on the memory card). That's what I did. That way, you don't need to power up anything but the TV.

I'll give it another try maybe, but the TV wasn't recognizing some of the images. I'll try again maybe with no other images on the card. Again, thanks for coaching me through this :)
