Receiver info/suggestions

Hi folks

Need to verify some things as I have been researching a new receiver for
sometime now and narrowed it down to: Denon 2803, Yamaha 1400 or 2400
or Onkyo 701.

I do not think I need "component video up conversion", as I have a Plasma with a
SACD/DVD player connected via component video. I will not have S video or other
A/V equipment connected to the TV or receiver, less a palmcorder once in a while,
but will most likely transfer to DVDs,
edit and play in the DVD unit.

Please verify this anyone, and is there a big difference between PLII and
PLIIX ?

I can not find the Yammies with DPIIX, and not getting responses from
online dealers/sellers when I ask if the units have the DPIIX

Appreciate all feedback and opinions.

Thanks

I have the Yamaha 1400, and it's great. Had a Denon 3802, and the Yammie blows it away. Mine has PLIIX, I bought it at Tweeter for 690. If you are buying on the internet, Yamaha is your best bet; Denon has serious reliability issues. Yamaha has none, and is much more detailed-sounding than Denon.

I would stay away from the yam. Being both an Onkyo and Yamaha dealer, I elect not to sell Yamaha products. Hope this helps.

I recently bought the 2400 and it has PLIIx. However, I believe that early-build units did not. The only way to tell is to look for the symbol on the box. I don't know if there is a big difference or not.

BTW, I love the unit.

And yes, if all of your sources are component video, then you won't need up-conversion... but it's nice to have just in case.

FEOT ur not a dealer if ur not selling it--why post a general statement like "stay away from the yam" without providing ANY supporting comments?

Confused enough..............my advice to you Jack would be to trust your ears thats all. The RXV-1400/2400 comes with DLP-IIx stickers and so does my newly acquired Z-9, but for me all that matters is the sound, I have not had a chance to hear the IIx as I have not seen any software with that encoding.

Unregistered; what are you saying man, you are guilty of the same thing. " I have the Yamaha 1400, and it's great. Had a Denon 3802, and the Yammie blows it away"

Of that I highly doubt!

I say go with Denon, they sound better in the amp section to my ears, but let your ears be your judge. You are the one who has to live with it.

I would choose between the RX-V2400 and the RX-V1400.
In my opinion the $200.00 dollar savings would lean me toward the RX-V1400!

Cheers

if you're gonna be doing any music listening.. compare the marantz to the yammy, gurantee it'll sound WAY more musical.
