Well, this is not for me, but my dad. His Denon 435 just died. It would play music from the radio and then cut out. The remote also ceased function (not the batteries) and for a while he could power down and then back up to get it to work. It progressively got worse and is no longer working in a usable fashion.
I've been doing some online research and have narrowed down my suggestions to these items, so far:
Yamaha HTR 5840 - $210
Yamaha HTR 5850 - $235
Onkyo TX SR503 - refurb from Onkyo - $200
Pioneer VSX814KB - $186
Yamaha YHT 360 - HTiB - $320 (this would allow use of the 5.1 and his Klipsch/Velodyne)
Does anyone have suggestions for additional receivers to look at and/or opinions on the ones I've listed?
My dad is shopping in the $200 range for receivers. Component Video inputs and outputs are a must.
His speaker setup is a pair of Klipsch Quartets that rock and a Velodyne subwoofer. Financial constraints blow.
