Receiver for my new Axiom speakers?

Can anyone recommend an AV receiver for my new Axiom epic grand master speakers? I am looking at the Denon AVR-5308CI and the AVR4806. Neither of these receivers have a HDMI 1080 output and I wouldn’t want to lose any picture quality. The LCD is a HD 1080 120mH with lots of HDMI inputs so I am thinking about bringing the components to the TV and not spending the extra money on a receiver to handle all the video unless someone has good reason to disagree. I don’t need any whole house features. This is for a dedicated 15 x 18 media room. Would like really good surround sound and good stereo music. Nice remote control as well and nothing too complex. Any recommendations? Thank you. Price range: 2 – 4K

You might want to check again. The 5308CI is their flagship receiver, and it most certainly does have 1080p output (more than one, in fact) and a very high-end video scaler as well. At that budget you should absolutely get something with HDMI 1.3 if you are concerned about it.

An AVR-2809CI would probably suit you just fine IMHO, it sounds like you don't need a lot of features that those two upper end ones have.

Thanks

Strube, thanks for the reply. I must be reading the specs wrong on the 1080. Is 115 watts going to be enough power for these speakers? Is there any way to channel the extra 7.1 power to the 5.1 setup? Thanks

As Strube mentioned, a lower mid-level receiver will work great for your room size and speaker set-up. I like the Denon 2809, and would also suggest the Onkyo 806. You can't reroute power, but you're limited by the unit's power supply to the amps anyway. Not to worry, the Axioms are relatively sensitive also.

I've got a Yamaha RX-2700 hooked up to my Axiom M60s. It's working out great for me.

I have the axioms (M22,EP400,QS4,VP100) with the Denon 2809 and the receiver has no difficulty driving these speakers.
