I just got my new receiver Marantz 7005. The back of the AVR - power supply - has only 2 terminals as input, with the 3rd pin - ground being missing.
Is this normal?? I thought it is essential to have grounding, and I was expecting to see one on mine.

It is missing on purpose to avoid ground loops.

Electronics and other electrical appliances with Class II double-insulated construction don’t require an earth ground.

the "third pin" is the equipment safety ground. If the case is not double insulated from the hot lead, then it is required. However, the neutral line and the equipment safety ground are actually bonded together at the circuit breaker panel in your home. Then all the grounds, including the neutral, are "earth grounded" to the home ground rod. So, in effect, the neutral is also a ground.
