Here is my problem, I have a Yamaha RX-v2500 (7.1/ Amplifier Output Details 130.0 Watt - 8.0 Ohm - 20 - 20000 Hz - THD 0.04 % ) New in 2005, cost $1,100.

My back right channel blew and should I get it fixed or opt for a NEW 2011 receiver? Other problem, I don't have the money I once had, lol. I can go to $650. I was looking at the Denon 2113 and didn't know if I would suffer by the THD .08 and 120 Watt per channel?

I have paradigm speakers. Mostly watch Direct TV movies.

So, get what I have fixed? or is it worth getting new technology. I use of Theater only.OR....save up for the 3112...

Thank you for all your help and rec.

You won't notice the difference between the two for the difference in the watts or distortion.

Instead of going through the trouble of fixing just one back channel, why not get one of the following:

For under $400:
Amazon.com: Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black): Electronics

Under $500:

Amazon.com: Marantz SR5005 Audio Video Receiver (Black): Electronics

Under $600:
Amazon.com: Yamaha RX-V867BL 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black): Electronics

or

Amazon.com: Marantz SR6005 Audio Video Receiver (Black): Electronics

All of these models have up to date HDMI 1.4 inputs and 7.1 channel pre-outs that offer the flexibility to add external power amps if and when the need arises. You can then sell the 2500 for whatever you can get or use it for a 5.1 system.
