Receiver as pre-pro-voltage?

Hello,
When using receiver's preouts to drive out board amps, how do you know if the receiver's preamp has enogh output voltage to drive the amp or amps you plan on using? I know EMO amps have 32dB gain and variable gain structure so I guess almost any receiver can drive them. Some amps I have been looking at have gains as low as 27dB, 28dB etc. Would the receiver's owner's manual state the preout voltages? What in your opinion is the n
norminal output voltage of receiver or prepro to drive these amps to max SPL?
Thanks for your time.
Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Check my signature for an article on gain structure. I think you’ll find Part 7 helpful.
