Please help an old guy setup his system. I received the Denon AVR-4306 today, speakers coming in four days and then all the equipment will be onsite. If you tell my what cables to buy, that should get me connected and I can start enjoying it and tweak later by reading from this wonderful site. I have a Monster Digital Interlink LightSpeed200 Fiber Optic Cable, and a TRIPP-LITE HT1ODBS Surge Suppressor. There is a Radio Shack a block away. Thank You

I would use HDMI between the player and receiver, then HDMI between the receiver and the TV. If you have SACDs or DVD-As that you want to listen to, then you should pick up a set of multi-channel analog ICs. These are just normal audio interconnects, but a specific "5.1" set will have different colors on each connector to help you differentiate them. For HDMI, I would avoid Monster (as they are overpriced) and get something from Impact Acoustics. For analog ICs, you can just pick up some normal ICs and use them (the Radio Shack house brand or Acoustic Research are JUST FINE).

As for speaker cable, I would recommend that you pick up some 12ga or 10ga Belden cable from Westlake. Here's some links:

Normal 12ga (somewhat stiff): http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&and=0&SUBCAT=all&keywords=5000UE&item_no=BEL-3059&category=CAB&redir=1

More Flexible 12ga: http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&and=0&category=CAB&SUBCAT=all&keywords=5000up&item_no=BEL-13255

Belden 10ga: http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&and=0&category=CAB&SUBCAT=all&keywords=5T00up&item_no=BEL-13242

You should order at LEAST 200ft of speaker cable, if not 300 (or more). You always end up using more than you planned. Always.

As for terminations, these are great quality locking bananas that will make your life easier:

Hey Jackson, have you tried those yet?
Those are the ones I put pictures up on the Bic thread.
They work great, I have talked Dave into getting some.
Actually, I did not talk him into it. He saw mine when he came down. And said they are great.
They are well worth the money. I have 2 sets (thinking about a third)

Denon link will handle SACD and DVD-A

Touche.

And Brian, no, I haven't tried them yet. When I have some extra cash to throw around (next payday), I'll order a set. Barewire on the 1015 SUCKS!

Thank You

Thanks to those that responded. A Denon-Link cable came with the 3910 so I will connect that to the 4306 and for speaker cable, I will go with Radio Shack just to get up and running. Later on, I plan on hiring a pro to come in and tweak everything and get me to one remote. Thanks again.

You really ought to consider the Mythos Two's for the surrounds/surround backs

They IMO will pair up better with the Fours.
