So I picked up a pair of Infinity SM80 Bookshelf speakers with stands, for $30.
And it sounds absolutely ****!
It has an 8" driver and a 2.75" dome tweeter. The mounts are as follows:
Woofer cut-out : 184mm
Tweeter cut-out : 72mm
So i'm thinking of throwing out the speakers and going to have some fun with it. The cabinets are built very very well. 1" MDF all round. No scratches.
Had a look around on madisound.com couldnt find anything that fitted properly.
So (hold your breath) i went to look at car audio. And found some nice JL-Audio woofers that look like they will fit well. JL Audio 8W3v3

Now i need to find tweeters. I thought instead of tweeters, to go with some mid-range or full-range speakers and crossover it at about 1khz. Either i'll make the crossover myself or buy one.
Looking for suggestions for a midrange/full-range driver that will fit into my box (without too much cutting) and a crossover for my new toy.
