Hi everyone:
Quick question.
I am building a home theatre and planning on 5.1 for now as the room is open to the back. The seating area would be 12-14' from the screen with a further 20' (open) to the back wall. A 10' by 10' nook comes off the viewing area wall at the 14' mark on one side and a 45 degree wall with bedroom door at the 12' mark on the other side (room sort of looks like a lopsided + mark)
I wasn't sure how well the ADP-170's would work hung at the ceiling with the room open to the rear (also low WAF).
A salesman at a local audiphile shop recommended going for the SM-60R's (ceiling mounted "dual directionals"). Going to the paradigm site I read:
"NEW! SM-60R SOLO PERFORMERS
Rich pure-fidelity dual-channel sound from a single CS Series high-performance in-ceiling speaker:
• Two PTD™ Pure-Titanium Domes offset at 60 degree angles
• Dual-Voice-Coil Mineral-Filled Polypropolyene Bass/Midrange Driver
The SM-60R is designed for use in a variety of sound applications. In situationswhere Paradigm ADP™ surrounds/rears cannot be used, the SM-60R's Dual-Directional™ sound pattern allows it to be used for in-ceiling surround/rear application".
Thoughts anyone? Can't find a review anywhere on these.
I have a pair of Paradigm Focus, a CC170 and a PDR-10 planned to round out the rest of the system and want to keep it all at approx the $1200 range.
Cheers
Gleonard
