Rear speaker locations?

The way I have them drawn SEEMS too far apart and would blend with the side speakers.
The string trick SEEMS like it puts them too close together with one almost directly behind the MLP.
They'll all be in-wall so locations are limited.
Which position would be best?

I would go 5.1 and call it done.

Don't get overly hung up on getting 7.1 installed if your room really doesn't support it. 2.0, 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1 are all just fine if that what works best for your room. Doing a crappy setup because you want it is a far worse decision than a quality setup that is limited, but more accurate.

How far is your center away from your MLS? Basically, what @BMXTRIX said and you're already going to have some crazyness going on with that left speaker, no point in adding 2 other crazy speakers.

That’s a painful setup but we all live in the real world and have to adapt!

I agree that rear surrounds are a bad idea in this room.

Got a photo of your screen wall?

I’d be tempted to do something like this.

I’d move closer to the speakers. I’d pull the right speaker to be in lone with the left. The side surrounds are fine. The rear surrounds should be removed.
