Hi Acoustat. Start with the recommended layout for surrounds (Ls & Rs):
Ideally the surrounds should be placed at 90º to the viewing axis, although around to 110º is fine. The distances each side don't need to be the same as the AVR will take care of the required delays and level trims.
Yes, the grandfather clock will need to shift; along with the table lamp from next to your seat. Personally, I'd move the couch out from the wall 12 - 18", but it's not critical. An obvious spot for the right surround is just to the right (as we look at it) of the white door.
Both wall mount and on stands can work well. The choice probably swings more on the types of surrounds available that will give a reasonable timbre match with your Acoustat mains. Is there anything available from Martin Logan, say?
Hey, thanks for the layout Giegar. I've been checking out the pics online and so on
including the one in the sticky started by Clint DeBoer and link to
Home Theater Speaker Layout - An Essential Guide which seems to be where you got that layout.
I am not planning on any surrounds in the near future, only rear channel "bookshelf's" perhaps
and a F15 Rythmik sealed sub. That should deplete my money rather well.
So if that changes anything in layout/placement, do tell.
Rythmik CC highly recommends I go with the Denon 4000X, and linked me to one that's refurbed.
The Audyssey MultEQ XT32 setup and 11.2 pre outs, to tell ya the truth may be overkill
well the pre outs certainly are, for all that I'm interested in.
Hopefully the Pioneer MCACC setup will suffice. It has more power by like 25W/Ch but
power isn't everything. I think the 2.2 pre outs will be plenty.
Martin Logan does indeed have a bookshelf speaker I've been eyeballing.
70Hz - 25kHz, 75W, 5 yr warranty
MartinLogan Motion® Series, Premium compact home theater speakers for audiophiles & home theater enthusiasts.
MartinLogan Motion 4 4" Bookshelf Speaker Each MOTION 4 - Best Buy
as well as the AAL I think it was speakers previously recommended.
Any thoughts? I wouldn't mind supporting Martin Logan especially with the 5 yr warranty
and I have no way to audition either, or both.
