Hello,

I am running a Yamaha 7.1 reciever with a 5.1 speaker set up. Thus, I have two open binding posts. My question is this, is it possible to bridge these posts and run them into a single speaker? The reason I am asking is because the layout of my room does not really allow for two more rear rear channels (there is a window) however, one would work quite nicely. I have a spare centre channel from my old system, could I use that and effectively create a 6.1 system? Any suggestions?

You can hook up a rear channel speaker for 6.1. The Yamaha manual will tell you which binding post to use (usually the Left rear surround terminal).

Two speakers right next to each other, although not ideal, will be better than one. With only one speaker directly behind you, you sometimes experience 'back to front reversals' where your brain localizes the sound and interprets it as coming from the front instead of the rear.
