Rear channel wiring in apartment?

Can anyone give any good advice on how to run speaker wire to the rear channels in an apartment? In my last apartment I ripped up the carpet along the walls but that sure seemed like too much work for just a 9 month lease period. Thanks.

My old roommate bought the flat speaker wire, and ran it along the walls. You can get it at Best Buy, it's a little pricey but if it's installed well it's very hard to see.

When I rented a condo, I simply ran the cables straight back and purchased an inexpensive rug that concealed the cables. They were the monster flat cables. Just make sure you have nice neighbors!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any tips for running flat speaker wire under carpet? I have read about using fish tape to guide and pull the wire under the carpet padding. If I were to cut a 1 inch slit in the carpet to fish the cables from the receiver to the rear surrounds would it be possible to conceal this slit when I move out?
