ok guys I feel like I know the answer I'll get here but just looking for some input.

I'm getting a house built and the only room that I have available for a dedicated home theater is a very SMALL room. I'm looking at 10' 10" x 11' that is really small I know but it's all I've got. She'll let me put stuff in the living room but I don't want to have to make all the hidden wire runs. Not to mention that the living room is a nightmare for trying to set everything up.

So what can I do to make this work or am I just screwed? Any thoughts anyone with this small of a room that has first hand experience.

My basement HT room is 12-'6" x 11' so it's almost as small as yours plus I only have 7' ceilings! I have good equipment but I think the best money I spent was on sound treatments and a good AV receiver that has Audyssey equalization on it. Those two items made the biggest difference in my small room. To be honest, I think you can set up very well in your room if you plan it out properly. What kind of equipment do you have?

I'm going to be using Emotiva ERM-1's for LCR and ERD-1 for surrounds. My receiver is old but I hope to upgrade it soon to an Onkyo 707. My sub is an old infinity 8" sub not great but it will do until I can build my own. I plan on doing my own panels when I get moved into the house.

YMMV, but of course you know that. In my experiences, it's not just the size/dimensions . . . or what I mean is that two rather similar sized rooms can sound very differently. I tried to do a dedicated stereo room in a small spare BR, and I even lugged in 300lbs of treatments. It was an IMPOSSIBLE room.

*sigh* So back into the LR did they go, and even by the looks of a much more reflective space, with a fraction of the treatments, does it sound oh so much better. I did NOT want this to happen, because the system does take over my LR to considerable extent. My friends/family think it actually looks cool, but I honestly would rather have a much more typical LR if it was in my powers to do so.

My advice is to try both rooms before you dive in monetarily. Sing, shout, bang pots pans, throw in speakers, etc, and that will give you a very good starting idea of what you're up against.

Yeah I think that I will have to see how things will go when I get in there. Also,
ezdriver how far back is your seating position? How far apart are your left and right mains.

My prime seating position is roughly 8 feet back from the front speakers and TV and 3 feet from the back wall. The fronts are 7 feet apart.
