Hi all,
I have a question to the authors of that very interesting
article and/or anybody else who are knowledgeable in the context of digital amplification.
I'm considering to use Panasonic XR57 to power AKG K1000 "earspeakers" (from the speaker terminals), that have an impedance of
120 Ohms, and sensitivity of 74 dB SPL/mW. Their power rating is only 1w @ 104 db. Its a common practice to use amps with at least 30watts (Class A or tube) to power K1000s. It is still experimental and new to use digital amps with K1000s.
Based on the specs and audio theory, do you think Panasonic XR series are a bad match for AKG K1000? In other words, are there any downsides in using "Class-D" amplification to power unusual load like K1000? I've heard that those Panasonic receivers have issues with speakers that have impedance swings, but I'm not technically knowledgeable to see if it relates to K1000s too, or if there are any other possible issues.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
