"RE"interlace/Deinterlace - 1080i/P

I have a 60" Sony SXRD. This display is 1080P but it only accepts 1080i (or 720P) input. I'm about to get a Blu Ray player and an Integra 9.8 Pre/Pro (with the HQV Reon processor).

Assuming 1080P/24 film based Blu Ray material, does anyone know what the Integra/Reon will do with a 1080P input (assuming I feed it that from the Blu Ray player) if I designate 1080i for output (as I must do with my Sony)?

e.g., Will it"Re"interlace the image such that my Sony will need to detect/perform 2:3 pulldown when deinterlacing? Or, will the Integra/Reon retain the video's odd/even line frame correlation and send the display 2, follwed by 3 "correlated" odd/even interlaced images? or ???

Or,,,, is there other pertinent info to consider for this general issue (other than buying a new display that will accept 1080P input)?

Thanks...

If I were to very randomly take an educated guess, I would go with the concept that the Integra may not perform any video conversion to HD feeds, but simply may pull the audio stream off the digital feed and pass the video feed on unchanged.

If so, then you would simply set the BD player to output 1080i for your display.

Bummer about those early SXRD displays! Many still don't believe that they are true 1080p displays since they don't accept 1080p input. Silly them - it's a nice display!

Without going and digging out my Integra manual, I believe that once you set the Integra's output to an particular resolution it will output all video at that resolution regardless of input resolution. You could input 1080p into the Integra and have 1080i come out.

However, I don't think that's the best option. I am of the opinion that the least video processing is the best. In that light, I would set the BD player to output in 1080i, leave the Integra in pass through mode and let the display do the deinterlacing.
