I have purchased and tried so many different components & done so much tweaking in my HT in that never ending quest for that perfect bass,
.
.
don't get me wrong,I love the challenge/tweaking part of this process,
.
.
.
and I have learned so much from you guys here !
.
.
.
.my system was at a pretty good point of satisfaction(not that that would stop my love of adjusting/tweaking/learning stuff)
.
.
but the point of this thread is that I moved my main listening couch back 12" and that may have made the single best improvement in my room bass to date !(and yes, that's credit to reading your posts here)

amazing what a small thing like that(moving a couch 12") can do for a system !
.
.
.that's it,thanks for your time. :)

thanks timoteo & Adam,

not much interest otherwise,

I thought it was pretty cool info.

it amazed me that moving the couch 12" could make such a difference,

maybe I rambled to long ? :D

Would moving the subs 12" have given you the same effect? Probably easier to move than a couch :D

Like in real estate it's location, location, location.

It always amazes me how often people don't spend the time to position their speakers or subs (or listening position ). Yet they'll spend a small fortune going through equipment upgrades.

Glad you found your happy place! :)

LOL no,I had to deal with the WAF,the WAF was happier moving the couch and leaving the subs where they were, actually I was happier doing that too instead of moving the subs 12" out into the room :D

besides,I have put the subs in every conceivable spot to test.

Seating position within the room is definitely one of the biggest things most people fail to recognize. Just like they put the sub where it "looks" good, most will put the couch where it "makes sense". I put my couch where I get the best sound.

The worst spot for bass in the room tends to be where most people place their seating furniture, the center. A lot of people's recreational rooms tend to be long rectangular rooms where the distance from the main speakers and the tv would get to be quite far away if you would put the seating close to the back wall. Shorter rooms would benefit a lot of people. You could throw more money at your subs and have improvement for sure, but it might be better spent on shortening that room up, sealing up suckouts, and getting your listening position closer to the rear wall. In my case I'll wait till I can build new and really do things right instead of trying to retro a very imperfect space. That is unless I run into more money than I know what to do with. I don't expect this will ever be a problem for me thanks to this hobby.
