I currently use a Denon DVD player for my cd's and have it hooked up to the Denon HTR via RCA. If I use Digital Coax will I get better sound quality or am I beeting a dead horse?

You haven't really given enough info to wager a guess, but if you mean you have it hooked up via stereo analog and you want to know if it will sound better via digital then the answer is: it depends on which player and AVR we are talking about. My guess is there won't be a big difference. It is simple enough to try it both ways, a coaxial video cable is the same thing as a digital coax cable, and often analog RCA cables are built to the same spec.

Thanks, John - I might have read the original post wrong. I interpreted it as "is an RCA cable different than a digital coax cable?" In that case, I'd say no.

I thought the same thing you did at first when I read the title, but I am not sure either :)
