RCA, etc.
RCA - Radio Corporation of America. Currently, RCA is owned by General Electric, and I'm sure the previous poster had some smart aleck remark in mind when they asked if you knew what RCA meant.
RCA makes good bargain equipment, but uses bargain electrical components - transformers, resistors, capacitors, etc.
If the standby light is on, really it means the fuse hasn't blown. Your problem could be as simple as a bad relay, or SCR transistor that turns on the "main power" inside the unit as opposed to standby. Unless you have the electrical repair knowledge yourself, you're doomed it to a repair shop or send it to RCA for repair. The cost to fix the unit might exceed what you can get a new replacement for.
