I always enjoy the demo rooms that RBH Sound put on at trade shows for 3 reasons:
  1. they sound great
  2. they use good source material
  3. they don't make you deaf

This years demo was no exception. When I walked into the room, I saw a pair of 8300-SE/Rs, matching center channel and surrounds but no subs. To my surprise they were using the bass drivers of the 8300s as dedicated subs each powered by their SAM-400 400 watt linear a/b amps connected to the subwoofer output of the ADA processor.

I was curious to hear how six (6) 8" drivers could shake the room. We watched a clip from the movie Bolt which really showed off the systems dynamics. Bass was aplenty as the room was shaking much more than I anticipated. I was convinced they were hiding a sub somewhere in the room to trick us but I gave a thorough search after the demo and found none.

In contrast, I heard a demo from a nearby neighbor of theirs that featured 12 10" subwoofers ideally located around the room that didn't provide as satisfying a tactile response of this demo. That demo was also way too loud, causing me to get listening fatigue within 2 minutes of the 10 minute torture fest I had to endure till I could exist. Thank you RBH for NOT cranking it to volume 11 and saving my ears from the horror!

The highlight of all RBH demos is the music portion simply because the speakers are so easy to listen too. The system sounded excellent as a whole and it was interesting to hear all of the other people in the room raving about the sound some of whom have never heard of RBH speakers before.

Great demo, nice time and thanks for the bottle of water.
