Anyone willing to venture an opinion on which HT receivers...within the past 3 or 4 years, offer the best tuner sections? I've been spoiled by my Mac MR78 for years but want to incorporate a tuner into my new, proposed HT set-up and move the Mac equipment into a different room.

Most of the receiver reviews I've read in recent years would indicate that the tuner section is an afterthought nowadays. When a reviewer even bother to test them, they seem to offer pretty unexceptional performance, even with the fairly expensive models.

With such a super tuner, designed by Modifari and reviewed in TAC some time back, you must be kidding yourself if anything will come in the same stadium

I would try and make room to keep it in the main setup. Receiver have poor tuners.

FWIW I can say the radio sounds much better on my Denon 3805 than on any of the other AVR's I have had,.... but still........

Magnum Dynalab manufacturer of some of the finest tuners in the world makes a receiver. It has an amp and preamp section of stand alone separates quality. The tuner section is simply outstanding. It is only a straight 2 channel receiver but of componant quality. If all you need is 2 channels check it out.
