Radio Shack SPL Meter - Digital or Analog?

You see the Radio Shack SPL meter mentioned in just about any post relating to calibrating your sound system, but I have a question about the meter it's self.

Radio Shack carries two models of the SPL Meter, one is Analog for $39 and the other has a Digital display for $49. Why does everyone use the Analog Meter when the Digital is only $10 more and would seem to be not only more accurate but also easier to use? There is even an Audio Calibration CD that is adjusted for the Radio Shack ANALOG SPL meter, it clearly states analog and not digital. What advantages, if any, does the analog meter have over the digital meter besides being $10 cheaper?

There is no difference in accuracy. The analog meter tends to respond slower so its easier to read. It’s more of a RMS reading.

Thanks!

Did not find that earlier post when I seached; thanks for the link!

I like the Digitals meters ability to sample & average and save, think I will go with that one, thanks all for the input! :)

Remember though that it only reads in whole digits. So, if you use it to level match, you could be off by 1dB spl between speakers, not good. Get both :D
