Planning on building a few custom racks to go into the closets my gear resides in. The first will be for the HT room. The second will be the office closet. Both will be pretty small and I plan to build them out of slotted angle iron. The office rack can be as deep as needed, but the HT room can't be more than 22". Pretty simple to build, but I have a few questions. Rack shelves. What brands are you guys using? I need to put my 809 on one so it will have to be able to hold ~50lbs. I've found a few, but they only screw into the front of the rack. My fear is that since the back is essentially floating it doesn't seem to solid. I can't seem to figure out a way to custom build a shelf without having to weld something.

Any ideas on how to build this thing on the cheap?

Go right to Middle Atlantic's website and they have anything that you should need.

I have used both the models from Middle Atlantic and the ones from Monoprice for my second rack. They normally only mount from the front and you should be able to find one that will handle the weight of our receiver. Depth may be an issue with the monoprice ones. Both of my racks are hand build using just the rail kits you can buy from MA.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can find something that is the correct depth. The office rack will be simple, but this shallow closet in the HT room is killing me. I wish I could just remove the closet all together.

EDIT: At 14" deep those monoprice shelves should be perfect. Thanks again.
