My Yamaha receiver status is showing "Version Error" after

firmware updates failed.
Tried to update firmware again, but after update status

showing "S1-3: 0%", then a message on display showing 'System

Error'.

Restarted device but same problem. I even to restored default

settings and update again, but Version status still showing

error.

This model dont have USB port to update firmware via USB,

only via network. However, other features is working fine.
I just want to update to latest firmware and fix the version

error.

Pls help. Thanks

You are lucky it still works. The rule is never update unless you are having a problem that a firmware update will likely solve.

Unfortunately only a Yamaha service center can correct this bad firmware upgrade, as it requires a reflash of the BIOS.

If you're trying to update it via WiFi, connect an ethernet cable and see if it works- WiFi is for convenience, not speed, throughput or reliability.

I have faced the exact problem few days ago. Did you managed to resolve this problem?

I may be the victim of ignoring my own advice- I installed an AVR and did the firmware update via WiFi. Several of the IR commands don't work correctly, even though the update went smoothly and didn't take longer than the estimate in the manual. I e-mailed the remote's setup file to the universal remote control's manufacturer and they couldn't replicate the problem. The OEM remote works fine, though.

Connecting via ethernet is the very thing that I did with one of my Onkyo receivers and the firmware update was fast and flawless.

Update (two weeks after the fact)- it was the universal remote that had a glitch.
