I'm looking for suggestions for the quickest starting consumer DVD player available.

It would be ideal if tracks selection can be controlled from front panel buttons, not just remote.

I need something that will come on very quickly, display menu quickly, accept track selection quickly, play selected track quickly.

Something in the sub $150 range would be ideal.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

just out of curiosity, why do you need something that is really fast?

PS3 is the fastest by far, brute force of their CPU.Part of the slowness of start-up is the HDMI set-up and negotiation, assuming you are connected via HDMI.

Once a DVD is started their is virtually no difference.

I really lament how slow modern PCs running Vista are at start-up, but that doesn't mean I want to go back to an Atari 800 which completley reboot and was operation as soon as you took your finger off the System Reset- a millisecond at the most if not a nano-second :D

HMDI negotation is slow go to component if switiching speed is your goal!

www.oppodigital.com :) I am not sure where the question really comes from, but most players just start up and start playing a disc fairly quickly with the exception of some HD-DVD players.

The PS3 is fast, however that is AFTER it has booted up, so you aren't counting the boot time as part of the sequence.

He wants to get to the part on "10" ...

My question as well, why is he in such a hurry, unless he is a disc jockey someplace and needs it:D

.... when they played Boléro as his date is sipping her wine :D

In my experience, the fastest DVD players/transports are the ones with the least amount of video processing. The low quality players are typically very quick to load, navigate and play.
