I'd take the Denon, then the Yamaha, and probably wouldn't give the Onkyo any consideration, but that's just me.

Pure Personal Preference.:D

So personally, I would get the Denon, naturally.:D

Changing my vote because if it were unanimous, this board would look like a bunch of denon fanboys: Marantz SR5005! Which is probably a rebadged denon

It's not. Not even close. And, yes, the Marantz line is better than all 3 options IMO. But not by an incredibly wide margin.

Pioneer Elite. :)
In this order I would do the following brands around the price point you're looking at.

1: Pioneer Elite VSX-32 MSRP $800 which is less than the ones you asked about.
2: Marantz
3: Onkyo
4: Denon
5: Anything else on Earth
6: Bose "Lifestyle"
7: Yamaha

That's exactly my take.

Denon seems to offer the best product out there for build quality and engineering level.

Yamaha is very reliable, but tends to not quite have the same build quality. Their amps are often considered to be of lower performance than Denon.

Onkyo just seems to be poorly engineered. They remind me of LG or BenQ. A lot of bells and whistles, an amazingly low price - then it falls apart.

In all fairness, my 7+ year old Yamaha RX-Z1 is still amazing, but I will probably replace it with a Emotiva or Denon next year.

EDIT: I would put the Pioneer models in there with the Yamahas. Solid performance, not Denon quality. Wish they still had TVs.
