I have a JBL 15" sub cabinet that was originally used for concert sound. I would like to integrate this with my PA sound setup—the question is this: Does it burn the speaker if I push an audio signal into it that has the full range of frequencies? (I'm thinking of just hooking it up as another speaker) I have heard that putting higher frequencies through a sub can burn the coils. Is this true?

Thanks in advance,

Power burns the coils. Sending frequencys the driver was not designed to handle will hurt the frequency response and THD %.

In an effort to fix this issue, are there crossover boxes or something to direct the signals? Maybe a limiter of some kind?

Thanks!
